ESTABLISHED 1991...

Tim was born and bred in Hawke's Bay, New Zealand and started working in the industry in 1991. He soon got involved at Mission Estate Winery, one of the oldest wineries in New Zealand. The winemaker at Mission Estate included staff in the wine making trials and blind tasting wines from all around the world. This started Tim's hunger to find out more and took him to the University of Adelaide to study Oenology. He completed 28 total vintages including time in Hawke's Bay, Barossa Valley, Hunter Valley and McLaren Vale. Tim also spent 2019 and 2023 vintage at Domaine La Barroche, Chateauneuf-du-Pape, France.
A fortunate move to McLaren Vale in early 2000 to take up a position with Rosemount Estate Wines, sparked his respect for the region. He subsequently commenced working for a well-known winemaker and character of the region, the late Wayne Thomas. In 2007 Tim decided in was time to have a go at processing his own fruit and so began his journey to create his own label, Seldom Inn by Geddes Wines.
Geddes Wines is a unique winery where the fruit is sourced locally in McLaren Vale and close by - with a strong belief wines are created, not produced. Vintages vary, weather changes. Tim makes the best wine the vineyards allow in any particular year.
