It’s a great confusion when you barrel taste for allocation of wine to labels. I always try to overdeliver in quality and never make wine because I must.

The 2018 shiraz is highly rated in my thoughts being elegant remaining intensity. New Barrels were purchased and like always, we trial a new oak either from Coopers, forest or toasting levels.

This magnum is a result from a producer we have used before but, with a different toasting style. A new 500L French Oak was too stylish to blend away into Seldom Inn and it clashed with style of the 2018 Old Vine Shiraz (also 100% new French oak).

What to do was the question. The answer was Magnums. Great for special occasions or the fact you don’t have to worry about what the second bottle is going to be.

Generous red fruits, pepper, spice that’s being wrapped up in aromatic, sweet and savoury French oak that is going to mature for a decade or more. Perfect balance between the fruit and oak that makes this wine drinking beautifully now, but climatic cellaring is rewarded.
